Student Testimonial - Ban Beidas
Ban Beidas, a former Junior Legal Counsel in Spain, qualified as a lawyer in England and Wales after prepping for her SQE1 and SQE2 Prep exams with BARBRI. She studied part-time while working full time. Here, she shares her story.
Ban, why did you want to qualify as an English solicitor?
I wanted to qualify as an English solicitor given the high international recognition associated with the qualification, and the access it would provide me to a global market. I believed that it would strengthen my profile as a lawyer and give me a competitive advantage.
Can you briefly talk about your SQE journey?
It was challenging to have to juggle a full-time job with self-studying for a year and a half. I sometimes struggled with staying motivated and finding the energy to go through the material. Additionally, the exams have a daunting reputation so I struggled with some psychological stress as well. Nevertheless, being able to pass both SQE1 and SQE2 exams swiftly made me feel very accomplished – it all paid off at the end.
Why did you choose BARBRI?
I chose BARBRI because of its high pass rates and reputation. Considering that I worked full time, it was also one of the few course providers that aligned with my schedule.
I think BARBRI provides the right amount of information required to maintain a substantial understanding of UK law and pass the exam. Although the SQE has a reputation for being tough, merely being familiar with the SQE materials (without having to refer to any outside material) was enough for me to pass both exams on my first try.
Aside from the material itself, the personal advisors provided to me by BARBRI were also lovely and provided me with a lot of comfort during the process.
