Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has partnered with BARBRI, a global leader in legal education, to deliver an enhanced LLM in Legal Practice (SQE1 and SQE2). This collaboration brings BARBRI’s innovative Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) preparation technology into LJMU’s Master’s programme, offering students a comprehensive pathway to solicitor qualification while equipping them with the practical skills needed for success in their legal careers.
The programme is designed to enhance students’ academic understanding of the law and develop practical legal skills, preparing them for both SQE1 and SQE2 assessments. BARBRI’s state-of-the-art online platform uses personalised learning plans and diagnostic testing to provide a flexible, tailored approach to SQE preparation. The programme also includes skill-based modules, real-world legal experiences and opportunities for students to build their Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) portfolios.
Beverley Caddick-Kala, Subject Leader in Law at the School of Law at LJMU, said, “This partnership with BARBRI marks an exciting step forward for LJMU’s School of Law. By embedding cutting-edge SQE preparation technology into our LLM in Legal Practice, we are offering our students unparalleled support as they work toward solicitor qualification. This collaboration enables us to combine academic excellence with practical training, ensuring our graduates are fully prepared for the challenges of modern legal practice.”
LJMU’s programme is built on a practice-based approach, providing students with opportunities to apply their legal knowledge in real-world contexts. Students can engage with real clients and experienced solicitors in LJMU’s Legal Advice Centre, gaining invaluable insights and practical experience that contribute to their QWE portfolios.
Christopher Howard, University Partnerships Director at BARBRI, added, “BARBRI is delighted to collaborate with Liverpool John Moores University on this dynamic and innovative LLM programme. Working with the expert team at LJMU, we have developed a course that combines BARBRI’s advanced SQE technology with the University’s strong commitment to legal
education. Together, we are creating an outstanding learning experience for ambitious young lawyers, preparing them for success in their SQE exams and beyond.”
Graduates of the LLM in Legal Practice at LJMU will gain a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical legal skills, enabling them to transition seamlessly into their legal careers. The programme also emphasises critical skills such as commercial awareness and ethical responsibility, ensuring graduates are ready to meet the demands of the profession.
Liverpool John Moores University joins a growing list of institutions partnering with BARBRI, including King’s College, Edge Hill, London South Bank, De Montfort, Anglia Ruskin, the University of Derby, and the University of Bradford.
