Global legal education provider, BARBRI, has been shortlisted in two categories for the Women & Diversity in Law 2023 awards.
Recognising exceptional individuals and teams who are working to proactively make the UK legal industry more diverse, the Women & Diversity in Law awards comprises 33 categories. This is inclusive of disability, LGBT+, mental health, wellbeing, race equality and social mobility.
With high levels of competition and over 350 entries this year, BARBRI has been shortlisted in the Social Mobility of the Year and Supplier of the Year categories, gaining recognition for the introduction of its funding initiative, BARBRI Bridges, which launched in 2021.
Speaking of the shortlist, BARBRI managing director Lucie Allen, said: “We’re very proud to be recognised in two categories at the Women & Diversity in Law awards 2023. Improving diversity and inclusion is a key mission for the BARBRI team in line with the SRA’s objectives, and it’s why we were so passionate about launching BARBRI Bridges in 2021 and appointing an advisory board this year to help continue to drive this forward. But the work isn’t done yet.
“We understand that there is still room for improvement across the industry, especially when reviewing the attainment gap seen through the inaugural SQE1 and SQE2 results. Doing so will not only help to ensure that the legal profession is accessible to those from all backgrounds but will also ensure that the industry is more representative of society today.”
Since its launch, almost 200 individuals have benefitted from BARBRI Bridges, pledging £1250,000 through a series of collaborations, scholarships and beyond. From 2023 onwards, it intends to dedicate £250,000 annually to BARBRI Bridges, taking the initiative one step further.
The winners of the Women & Diveristy in Law awards will be announced at a gala dinner on Tuesday 21 March at Marriott Grosvenor Square, London. For more information, please visit: https://womenanddiversityinlawawards.com/finalists-2023/
