Description

In February 2022, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and CMS Innovation announced an overhaul of its GPDC model. The change means impacted healthcare organizations will transition to the new model, ACO REACH, in 2023.

The new model includes some aspects of the current GPDC. However, there are several changes. The ACO REACH model requires that participating providers or appointees control 75 percent of the ACO's governing body. This is an increase over the current model but is consistent with CMS requirements for shared savings programs. The new model also introduces a health equity benchmark adjustment to support healthcare delivery for underserved communities and reduce health disparities.

The ACO REACH model calls for increased screening and monitoring of applicants and participants. Organizations that want to proceed with participation in the model will have unique opportunities and must ensure compliance with the new requirements.

Listen as our authoritative panel of healthcare attorneys examines the new ACO REACH model. The panel will address the policy and legal considerations organizations face in the transition from the GPDC model to ACO REACH and offer best practices for the transition.
